Rational decision-making under uncertainty, formal epistemology, scientific progress, and expert disagreement.
On April 1 to 2, Scuola IMT will host the Rationality, Uncertainty, and Intellectual Virtues Workshop. During the workshop, participants will discuss the problem of rational decision-making under conditions of uncertainty, exploring its epistemological and cognitive aspects, with particular attention to radical, non-measurable uncertainty.
The presentations will also address central issues in formal epistemology, offering reflections on scientific progress, epistemic utility theory, confirmation theory, and verisimilitude (truthlikeness).
Finally, topics related to the role of scientific experts, opinion dynamics, and the problem of disagreement will be examined.
